Write Me A Future

Monday. Wake up at 6am, drink water, sit down and stare at nothingness for half an hour, eat breakfast, spend most of the day looking for jobs online and potentially applying for some.

Tuesday. Wake up at 6am, drink water, sit down and stare at nothingness for half an hour, eat breakfast, spend most of the day looking for jobs online and most definitely applying for some.

Wednesday. Wake up at 5.24am because you couldn’t sleep, drink water, stare out the window, eat breakfast, spend most of the day looking for jobs and and applying for most of them.

Thursday. Wake up at 4.51 because again, you couldn’t sleep, drink water, skip breakfast and spend most of the day looking for jobs and applying for all of them, good, bad, awful, you don’t care.

Friday. Open your eyes at 5.40, stare at the ceiling till 6.20. Drag your ass to the kitchen because the thirst is killing you, drink some water, eat breakfast. Stall. Check email, disappointed result. Stall. Go to the store and spend your last pennies on alcohol. Watch TV and drink all day because you now not only worried, but also depressed.

Saturday and Sunday is also spent on watching TV and drinking. You’ve already applied for all the jobs that are nearby and realize that the only thing left to do is to wait. Time has never moved slower.

Monday. Wake up at 6am, drink water, sit down and stare at nothingness for half an hour, eat breakfast, check email. You got a reply from a company that takes care of Microsoft’s xbox customer service. Your job would be a customer support agent, taking care of United Kingdom customers. Next step for you is the test call, you reply, they reply, tomorrow is the date.

Tuesday. Wake up at 6am, drink water, sit down and stare at nothingness for half an hour, eat breakfast, wait for a call. Phone is ringing, your hands are shaking and you pick up the phone. Half an hour later you put your phone down and wait for an email that says how the test call went. 2 hours later, you read the first words from that email.

“Dear Candidate, Congratulations, you passed the Microsoft Xbox TEST CALL!”

Your eyes light up from joy, you set a date for the job interview to 5h December at 2pm. Your week has been made and half the struggle is over because you know that if you pull off the job interview as well, you have a future. This time however, you promise yourself to make this future the best future yet.
